The Wapping Project

Last Tuesday I went to the Wapping Project…The Wapping project is a unique new centre for the arts in East London located in the historic Wapping Hydraulic Power Station. It is an interesting conversion project, including a “chic” bar-restaurant and a multipurpose exhibition and performance space. At the Wapping project you can see newly commissioned works by visual artists, choreographers, composers, writers, poets, designers and filmmakers.

I went to the Wapping Project for the opening of “the skirt1″ an exhibition presented by the Fashion Department of the Fine Art Academy of Antwerp. This beautiful exhibition is all about atmosphere: the 23 skirts are scattered in the artificial forest of the Boiler House of the Power Station. Described as “haunting and surreal” this landscape made of rag and spot light is worth the detour!
